Repurposing Your Candle Jar

When you're done burning your Wax on Fire candle (and ordering a new one!) it's time to repurpose your jar! There's several ways to clean out your old candle jars but this is the method that we personally use -- let's get started!

  • Wait until your candle has approximately 1/2 inch of wax left. If you can't get the labels off, don't worry about it right now.
  • Set your oven to 170 degrees Fahrenheit and stick your candle in there while it's pre-heating (too much heat at once will shock the candle). Leave it there for about 15 minutes or until all of the wax has turned to liquid.
  • Take your candle out with an oven mit and dump the melted wax into the trash - NOT the sink! It'll clog your drain and we don't need that catastrophe. The wick should come right out but might need a little tug.
  • Rinse your jar out with warm, soapy water. Be careful not to use cold water because it will harden the wax and possibly shock the jar causing it to break. If you left any labels on, they should be able to come off now with very little effort.
  • Dry that baby off and TA-DA! A nice, clean jar!
Now you can find ways to use your jar - whether it be for flowers, cotton balls, q-tips, etc. The possibilities are endless!
